What is the difference between a CNG valve and liquefied petroleum gas valve?

Publish Time: 2021-08-02     Origin: Site

CNG compressed natural gas, and LPG, liquefied petroleum gas, are all fuels that are used widely in human society nowadays. These two kinds of fuels are quite similar since they are all colorless and are all made from a form of gas. Also, both of them are needed to be contained with a container and a valve. So, what are the differences between the CNG valve and the LPG valve? Please let me introduce that to you in the following contents.

What is the difference between the CNG valve and the LPG valve?

What is a CNG valve?

CNG valve is a new type of safety equipment for gas pipeline engineering; it is used to cut off, connect and adjust the gas in the pipeline, with good control characteristics and closing and sealing performance. CNG valves are also suitable for city gas, natural gas, Oxygen, and other fuel gas medium pipelines. The CNG valve body is made of high-quality forged brass, which can resist high pressure. The innovative core design reduces the pressure in the internal area, thereby making the CNG valve highly safe. Generally, CNG valves can be applied from 0 psi to more than 6400

What is a LPG valve?

LPG valves are everywhere. Any place where LPG is used, you could find an LPG valve, different kinds of LPG valves, and can meet different needs and different purposes. Generally, toady LPG valves are used in the commercial world, agricultural world, and domestic world. LPG valves are mainly made up of brass. This is mainly because of the special property of brass. Generally, when other metals collide with each other or other materials like concrete, sparks caused by "friction" usually occur. However, unlike ferrous metals like iron which will produce sparks upon impact, brass does not produce sparks upon impact. Brass is considered a non-sparking kind of metal. This property of brass makes it the perfect choice to make LPG valves. Since a little spark in the LPG container could lead to a destructive explosion, causing not only loss to precious assets, but also harm to human safety. During the connection of these common LPG accessories, it is not uncommon for the accessories to collide with each other. Being made of brass means that if flammable gases are present, these impacts will not produce any sparks, thus preventing possible ignition. Brass can also withstand low temperatures. This is important because the vaporization of LPG can cause cylinders and LPG valves to become very cold. Unlike mild steel, brass does not become brittle at low temperatures. The fact that brass is recyclable is another reason why brass is the perfect material. Recycling brass is common all over the world. Its high value provides great motivation for recycling.

What is the difference between the CNG valve and the LPG valve?

The main differences between CNG and LPG are that they have different properties, different ingredients, and different safety. For example, liquefied petroleum gas is a colorless volatile liquid obtained by liquefying natural gas or petroleum under pressure and cooling in an oil refinery. While compressed natural gas is natural gas that is compressed and remains the form of gas. Also, the main components of LPG are propane, propylene, butane, and butene, and it is also doped with a small amount of pentane, pentene, and trace sulfide impurities. But the main component of CNG is methane, which is recognized as the cleanest fossil energy source on earth. The security level of these two fuels is different as well, liquefied petroleum gas can be toxic when returning the form of gas, but the CNG is non-toxic and non-corrosive. Therefore, these differences between these two kinds of fuels lead to the differences between the CNG valves and LPG valves. For example, the level of tolerable pressure of these two kinds of valves are different, since many times the LPG is contained in a cooled container, the tolerable pressure level of the LPG valve could be quite low as only 0.4 MPA, while the CNG valve is needed to withstand great pressure as more than 20 MPA, for the reason that the CNG is not cooled to be a form of liquid.
