This valve uses a thermoplastic seat material and a thermoplastic stem packing, such as PTFE. in the seat design, even though the seat is thermoplastic, the design allows the thermoplastic to be machined into the body of the secondary seal to provide a seal when it melts due to high temperature exposure. In stem packing designs, the thermoplastic seal is typically supported by a graphite seal as a secondary packing.
